Cement-OnBJWE offers three types of low-mass, fast response cement-on thermocouples. Surface temperature is a highly desired but difficult measurement to make. Unlike sensors immersed in fluids under controlled or known conditions, many factors influence a surface measurement such as environmental (surrounding) conditions, conformance with surface being measured, and thermal and electrical paths between sensors and objects being measured. Selection criteria for three types of cement-on probes include: range, accuracy, ruggedness, thickness, and flexibility. Type 1Type 1 consists of a 0.0005 foil sensor butt bonded to provide fast response. The foil sensor is encapsulated between two paper thin glass reinforced high temperature polymer laminates. They provide electrical insulation, support for the sensor, and a flat surface for cementing. The laminate carrier will withstand prolonged heating at 600°F to 750° F which is the curing temperature for many types of cements. Type 1 sensor are available in thermocouples types "K", "E", & "T". All Type 1 sensors come with 36" of 30 gages fiberglass insulated lead wires. Type 2Type 2 cement on sensor is 0.0005 flat butt welded filament, free from any encapsulation (carrier). Fastened to the sensor are two 6" un-insulated foil leads 0.002 thick. The Type 2 sensor is for very fast surface measurements and high temperature measurements. The sensor is bonded directly to the surface being measured. Electrical insulation may be required. The sensor filament is housed during shipping in a temporary polymide film carrier which can be cut, peeled, or left intact during mounting. Available in type "K", "E", & "T", temperatures to +1500°F. Type 3Type 3 cement-on sensor is economically fast response sensor. The Type 3 consist of 30 gage glass insulated thermocouple wire 36" long with one end of the wire beaded (via Bead weld) and encapsulated in a polymide/glass carrier. The Type 3 comes in "J", "K", "T", & "E" thermocouple types and has a useful range of up to 700°F short term and 500°F continuous. The Type 3 is good for most industrial applications. BJWE offers 24 hour delivery on many types of beaded wire thermocouples without any carriers...which can save you time and money. ORDERING CODEExample: CMT-2-K Stik-OnThe new Stik-On thermocouples with factory applied pressure sensitive adhesive, feature the same low mass and fast response characteristics of the Type 3 cement-on thermocouples listed above. The Stik-On thermocouples feature a silicone cement with an operating temperature range of +100°F to +500°F. The silicone cement is applied to the bottom of the paper thin Kapton carrier. To use simply prepare the surface, remove the protective cover, and stick it on. All standard off-the-shelf Stik-On thermocouples come with 36" of 30 gage (0.010") teflon covered leads.
